WTC Mumbai Organizes Session at WTO Forum 2017

World Trade Centre Mumbai organized and participated in a working session on ‘Mitigating the Challenges of Sustainable Development through the Adaptation of Clean Technologies’ in association with All India Association of Industries at the 16th WTO Public Forum 2017on September 27, 2017at the WTO Headquarters, Geneva. This year the theme of the WTO Public Forum 2017 was ‘Trade: Behind the Headlines’ which addressed both opportunities and challenges that unfold as the trading system evolves.

The panelist at the working session included Mr. Frank Van Rompaey, Representative to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva, UNIDO Geneva Office; Mr. John Danilovich, ICC Secretary General International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); Mr. Alexander, Kasterine, Senior Advisor, Trade for Sustainable Development (T4SD), Sustainable and Inclusive Value Chains Section, Division of enterprises and Institutions (DEI), International Trade Centre (ITC); Dr. Viviana MunozTellez, Coordinator, Development, Innovation and Intellectual Property Programme, South Centre; Dr. Paul Kloppenborg, Partner – CEO, Global Cleantech Capital and Mr. Vijay Kalantri, Vice Chairman, World Trade Centre Mumbai, Director, WTCA Board, N.Y., President, All India Association of Industries, Mumbai (moderator of the session).

The session discussed various initiatives and approaches to lessen the challenges toward achieving sustainable development by creating an ecosystem supported by clean technologies. It examined the role of multilateral organizations in providing a cohesive policy framework toward achieving the goals of sustainable development through clean technologies.
