WTC Lima Hosts Successful Pacific Alliance Meeting

LIMA, PERU - More than 300 companies in the region, institutions in the public and private sector, and representatives from 18 World Trade Centers (WTC) in Latin America participated in the First International Meeting of Regional Integration in the context of the Pacific Alliance, held on 11th November in the Peruvian capital of Lima by the World Trade Center Lima in conjunction with the World Trade Centers Association in New York and Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola.

The meeting was opened at the Sheraton Lima Hotel by the Founding President of USIL, Lic. RaĂșl Diez Canseco, and Mr. Eric Dahl, Chief Executive Officer of the World Trade Centers Association in New York, who highlighted the importance of the event that brings together the various WTC in the region, mainly the representatives of the countries of the Pacific Alliance; Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

The inaugural speech was delivered by Ambassador Allan Wagner, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru and Board Member of USIL. The speech highlighted the importance of the Pacific Alliance, consolidating economic and political integration of the region, which accounts for 37% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 50% of exports from the region.

The meeting featured prominent national and international speakers, including Colombia ProExport Director, Ms. Juliana Villegas Restrepo; ProChile Director, Ms. Veronica Tramer; the First Secretary of ProMĂ©xico, Ms. Daniela Montserrat Robles Trejo; Director of Export Promotion PromPerĂș, Mr. Luis Torres Paz; Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of Peru, Mr. Edgar Manuel Vasquez Vela, Mr. Juan Manuel Escalante representative of the Inter-American Development Bank, IDB, among others.

The meeting was also attended by general, trade and international trade managers from small and medium-sized Peruvian companies seeking new international strategic tools and contacts to grow in their trade management. They participated in different workshops, business roundtables and lunches where they learned about the different opportunities to participate in international trade presented as part of the Pacific Alliance.

Continuing the creation of strategies for the development of trade between countries in the region, on November 12, 18 World Trade Centers in Latin America came together with the CEO of the World Trade Centers Association in New York, Mr. Eric Dahl on the campus of the University San Ignacio de Loyola. At this meeting the importance of the Pacific Alliance and the role of the World Trade Centers within it were highlighted. The main objective is to serve as a link between public and private entities for the benefit of businesses and achieve greater economic trade development in our region.
