WTC Indianapolis Signs MOU with Indian Counterpart

INDIANAPOLIS -
World Trade Center Indianapolis has signed a memorandum of understanding with World Trade Center Pune in India. The organization says the agreement allows the entities to collaborate on trade missions, generate leads for businesses in both regions and support each other's international marketing efforts.

The agreement was signed over Memorial Day weekend Sagar Chordia, managing director of WTC Pune, as well as WTC Indianapolis President Doris Anne Sadler and Raju Chinthala, founder and president of the Indiana-India Business Council. As part of the deal, the two groups will name a liaison to serve as first contact for the partnership.

"We are leading Indiana into a new era of economic cooperation with India," Sadler said in a news release. "Between the work of firms like Cummins and Infosys and the work Governor Holcomb has done to establish connections in India, our state economy is in a great position grow alongside some of the fastest emerging markets in the world."

In 2017, Governor Eric Holcomb led a delegation to India, which included a stop in Pune, which WTC Indianapolis says created a pathway for it to collaborate with its Indian counterpart. The two areas have been sister cities since 2018 and one of Indiana's largest employers, Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI), has had its India headquarters in Pune since the early 1960s.

Chordia said the existing bilateral trade and investments can be mutually fostered by the two WTC locations as a result of the MOU.
