WTC Goa - Seminar on Imp. of Energy Efficiency

World Trade Centre Goa along with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Seminar on the Importance of "Energy Efficiency for MSMEs"
on 30th January 2019 at Panaji Goa.

Mr. Vishwanath, Chairman, MSME Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his Welcome address said that MSMEs need to keep a tab on the energy they consume and the use of natural lighting, he said, would be a big factor in saving of energy consumed. Mr Vishwanath also encouraged the MSMEs to carry out periodic Energy Audits so that wastages in energy consumption can be identified and suitable measures can be put in place to plug energy wastages and thus add to the profitability of the organization.

Mr. H. P. Kumar, former CMD, NSIC, in his Special Address, informed that in some MSMEs the cost of energy is almost 20 to 25% of the input costs, thus making them highly uncompetitive in the international markets. He also stressed on the need of periodic Energy Audits to reduce wasteful energy consumption and thus become competitive in the pricing of products both for the local as well as international markets.

Mr. G. R. Akadas, Director, MSME DI, Goa in his Special Address, urged the MSMEs to implement Lean Manufacturing practices in their organizations, this he said would help reduce the use of energy and thereby contribute to the profitability of the organization.

Mr K B Kulkarni, Proprietior, Comfort Services, said that energy conservation would help in reducing the carbon footprint and Global warming, he also made a detailed presentation on proper maintenance of air conditioning systems which would help in reducing the cost of energy consumption.

Mr Anish Sousa, Founder and CEO of Sun 360, gave a presentation on Solar Energy Systems and how it could play a very important role in future in helping reduce the cost of energy consumption. Although installing and maintaining Solar Energy Systems are a bit expensive initially, over a period of time the cost benefits are innumerable he opined.

While Mr. Ketan Kenkre, Director, Sanya Energy LLP spoke on the topic of " The Missing Link to Renewable Energy, Mr. Vijay Kalinani, DGM Small Industries Bank of India, made a presentation on " Funding Schemes for MSMEs from SIDBI"

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Cyril Desouza, Assistant Director, Trade Promotion, World Trade Centre Goa.
