WTC Goa organizes Field Trip to a Progressive Farm

World trade Center Goa under the aegis of its Center for Excellence in Agriculture and Fisheries, organised a "Field trip to a Progressive Farm" on 29th January 2020.
The visit was planned to the progress farm - Purva Farms- an esteemed Associate Member of World Trade Center Goa.

Delegates were given live demonstration of Coconut Tree Climber, Manual and Mechanized Areca- nut Tree Harvesting machine with Spraying Device. Electronic Ultrasonic pest repeller, Multipurpose Aluminium Pole with harvesting & Spraying device. Delegates were also given first hand information on how pepper can be grown for commercial and export purposes. Live demonstrations were given for Chaff Cutter and Pepper Separator. Detailed working of Slurry Filter Tank and production of organic manure and Solar fencing to shield the green fodder that is grown to feed the farm cattle were explained. The farm has also diversified into Dairy Farming and the detailed working of the dairy farm along with Hydroponics, a technology that is used to produce nutritious fodder for the farm animals was demonstrated. The farm also houses a Food Processing department where value additions are carried out to juice and pulp of fruits like Mango, Jackfruit, etc to enhance their commercial values. Delegates visited this department for a demonstration of the automated food processing machinery and were also given a demonstration of the Solar Tunnel Dryer and Areacnut shelling machine. 

The field visit was a learning experience for the delegates and gave them a detailed working of a successful farming ecosystem that incorporates humans, animals and technology to produce agro products that have great commercial potential for the local markets as well as exports.
