WTC Goa Celebrates World MSME Day

The World Centre Goa Celebrated "Word MSME Day" on 27th June 2018 at Panaji Goa. This is a day set aside to highlight the role of the MSME Sector in the Global Trade and their contribution to the GDP of their respective countries.

Mr Prashant Kamat , Functional Manager, Directorate of Industry, Trade & Commerce, in his address highlighted the Government of Goa's efforts to encourage the MSME Sector, he spoke of the Chief Minister's Rojgar Yogana (CMRY) and the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and how they have benefited the State. He highlighted that the MSME sector plays a major role in the socio-economic development of Goa. Mr Kamat opined that the MSME sector must be environment friendly and be able to adopt changes in the business model so as to be competitive and economically viable.

Women Entrepreneurs play a very significant role said Dr. Jennifer Lewis e Kamat, the Chairperson of the Women's Wing of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as through their efforts they contribute in a big way to the reduction of Poverty, reduction in gender inequality and also play a major role in the social development of the Sate. She Opined that  Economic survival, better access to health and their increasing contribution to National Development made perfect sense for Women to be in business.

Mr Gaurav Kumar Jain, IRS, Assistant Commissioner, GST, in his address highlighted the achievements of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) on completion of One Year since its implementation. He also informed the delegates present that from 1st October 2018 the government is planning to start E-wallet for the exporters so as to make sure that the refunds are automatically transferred once the exports are done.

Director of Dimac Organics Pvt Ltd,  Mr Chetan Lakhani shared his experiences and the challenges that he encountered when he initially started his business in Goa. He then highlighted how his company strategically over came the problems and set up their own business unit in Goa which has today grown to a modest size enterprise which he is proud of.

Earlier, Mr Cyril Desouza, Assistant Director, World Trade Centre Goa welcomed the delegates and also highlighted the different programmes and events that will be held to promote the MSMEs Globally.
