World Trade Center Baltimore Celebrates 25 Years

Nov 21, 2014

BALTIMORE, MD, USA - On December 3rd, the World Trade Center Baltimore will celebrate its past and its future at its’ 25th Anniversary Embassy Wine Tasting and State of the Ports Address. This event will feature an international wine tasting, food from four continents, raffles and more. As part of this celebration, Maryland’s Secretary of Transportation will deliver the State of the Ports Address which highlights WTCI’s close partnership with the Port of Baltimore. WTC Baltimore and the Port of Baltimore share history, a building, and the vision to make Maryland a center of International business.

It all started 25 years ago when, on a visit to the World Trade Center in Taiwan, Maryland Governor William Donald Schaefer found the solution to a problem that had long vexed him: how the government could better serve Maryland’s International businesses. He knew that the state alone could not meet the needs of the private sector so he approached Harold Adams about forming the World Trade Center Baltimore.

Today, Harold Adams remains the Chairman of the World Trade Center Baltimore, and WTC Baltimore's partnership with the state and the private sector has never been stronger. WTC Baltimore is proud that many of the original member companies and board members are still with the organization and that their partners at the state remain strong supporters. Over the last 25 years WTC Baltimore's vision is vindicated as they have attracted many of the region’s emerging global business leaders.
