Jul 18, 2018

July 13th, 2018, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China

Vice Governor Klaas Kielstra of the Province of Friesland, The Netherlands, paid a visit to World Trade Center Harbin on his 5th visit to the province of Heilongjiang, China in 3 years. Mr Kielstra re-iterated several times during his stay in the city that it felt like 'coming home'.

And come home he did. The team at the World Trade Center Harbin welcomed the Frisian delegation with what Mr Kielstra dubbed 'a great opportunity for both provinces to work together in concrete terms' as Mr Kielstra graciously accepted the invitation from World Trade Center Harbin to site a Frisian showcase of culture, technology and products on its premises, with a promise to materialize the first phase of this showcase on Mr Kielstra's next scheduled visit to Harbin in January 2019.

Aside from the planned Frisian showcase, Mr Kielstra was also shown around the massive development of the World Trade Center Harbin. He later remarked to a room of representatives from the province of Heilongjiang that 'It is the biggest WTC in the world and,.... will be for years to come'

Both Friesland and Heilongjiang provinces are agricultural powerhouses in their respective countries and the avenues for potential collaboration extend beyond the confines of trade in agricultural produce, with agro-tech, waste and water management, and circular economy being areas that are currently being explored.
