Training Program organized for Tourism Industry

A two day training program for the State Level Government Tour Guides was organized by World Trade Center Bhubaneswar in association with Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha. The initiative was taken under the Tourism and Hospitality Think Tank of WTC Bhubaneswar with a focus on enhancing their individual capacities such as communication skills, personality modulation, presentation skills as well as giving them a broader view of the latest trends of international tourism. 

Mr. J.K. Mohanty, Managing Director, Swosti Group of Hotels and Honorary Convener, Tourism and Hospitality Think Tank WTC Bhubaneswar in his address deliberated that the tour guides should realize their immensely valuable position in the tourism industry. “Tour guides not only represent the state but they also create an overall impression about the nation” he said. While sharing his experience of travel to various destinations across globe he explained the how hospitality impacts and differs in various countries leaving back an ever lasting impression on the tourists. He further encouraged the trainees to engage themselves to the best of their capacities in the training program and explore the best from the faculty.

Mr. Benjamin Simon, Managing Director, Travel Link India Pvt. Ltd and Co-Convenor of the think tank in his address encouraged the tour guides to take up the profession with utmost dignity and showcase to the world that Odisha is one of the best and safest destinations for the tourists to visit. He asserted on the fact that the tour guides should acquire the confidence of the tourists making recurrent visitors and create business through referrals. 

Mrs. Archana Patnaik, IAS, Director Tourism, Government of Odisha in her short interaction with the trainees assured all the support for the department of Tourism towards development and sustainability of tour guides. She further encouraged them to build their capacities as the backbone of the industry and assured them to take care of the various issues faced by them at the field level.

Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Assistant Director, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar earlier welcomed the trainees to the session and introduced the profiles of the faculty Mr. Kamalakanta Dash, Ms. Anne and Dr. Kamlesh Mishra. She also explained the training module which was divided into Communication and Behaviour, Demonstration of French Learning and Understanding the Tourism Industry.
The program comprised of a batch size of 35 tour guides.
