The Ocean Exchange calls for solutions

Mar 20, 2015

SAVANNAH, GA, USA â€“ World Trade Center Savannah is proud to announce its support of The Ocean Exchange™, an international platform that encourages positive impacts on environments, economies and health across industries, while respecting cultures across the world. Founded in 2010, The Ocean Exchange™ takes pride in working together to assemble solutions and empower organizations to achieve their goals.

Businesses, organizations and individuals who submit transformational solutions for The Ocean Exchange™ could win one of two $100,000-US awards, The Gulfstream Navigator Award sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation or the Orcelle Award sponsored by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics. The 2014 winner of the Gulfstream Aerospace Navigator Award was presented to Okeanos Technologies. Okeanos Technologies, a company based out of the United States, showcased a proprietary chip that detaches salt from seawater at the micro level, which could reduce the cost of taming saline into portable water. The Orcelle Award, was presented to a Swedish firm, Minesto AB. The firm’s solution features an underwater device that attaches to the bottom of the ocean floor and generates electricity from the ocean’s tidal currents.

The theme for the upcoming 5th annual competition is Translate Sustainability into Value – innovations generating economic growth and increased productivity, while reducing the use of nature’s resources and waste.

WTC Savannah welcomes World Trade Centers to encourage businesses and individuals worldwide to submit Solutions at http://www.oceanexchange.org/register-solutions/. For monetary awards, registration and pre-screening, applications must be completed by 11:59PM (GMT) May 17, 2015. The top 10 solutions will be selected to travel to Savannah, Ga.
