Tanzanian Miner's Association Discuss Trade Ties

Senior officials from the Federation of Miner’s Association of Tanzania (FEMATA) visited MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai to explore opportunities for Indian companies for investment and development of mining projects.

Mr. John W. Bina, President, Federation of Miner’s Association of Tanzania while introducing the Association said that the Federation represents private miners in the country. The membership is to the tune of one million. In Tanzania, 95 per cent of mines are privately owned. Currently, ten lakh miners represent 90 percent of the mining carried out in the country.

Tanzania is rich in manganese, copper, iron ore, thermal, coking coal, molybdenum and other rare earth metals. The country has the largest gold reserves said Mr. Bina.

Mr. Lister F. Balegele, General Secretary, Federation of Miner’s Association of Tanzania elicited interest to bring a Tanzania mining delegation in the 1st quarter of 2020. Mr. Balegele solicited MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai’s cooperation in organising networking and business-to-business meetings (B2Bs) not only in Mumbai but also in Goa, Karnataka and Odisha.

Further, the senior officials requested MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai’s assistance in locating Indian suppliers for silver metallic liquid mercury.

The senior officials discussed areas of mining co-operation for Indian companies in infrastructure development, mining equipment, developing mining rights, gold purification and other allied activities.
