Savannah, GA, USA On December 12-13 in Savannah, Georgia, World Trade Center Savannah (WTCSav) hosted a business delegation led by the Trade Commission of Spain.

The purpose of the mission was for the delegation to gather information and identify business opportunities for Spanish companies considering Georgia as a trade destination. From their office in Miami, Florida, the Trade Commission of Spain works to promote states for investment opportunities. Georgia, recently named the top state for doing business for the 5th year in a row, was on their list.

The group met in WTCSav offices for a presentation from the Savannah Economic Development Authority, as well as WTCSav to learn more about how the organizations could serve companies interested in locating in the coastal Georgia region.

The delegation learned about incentives available to companies interested in doing business in the region such as Georgia Quick Start, a division of the Technical College System of Georgia, providing customized workforce training, at no change to companies creating jobs in Georgia; the EB-5 program, created by Congress in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors and the U.S. Foreign-Trade Zone program which expedites and encourages foreign commerce by lowering the costs of U.S. based operations engaged in international trade.

“We really appreciate all the time and support making our trip an unforgettable experience,” said Queralt Puig Pinilla, Director of Investments and Institutional Relations Department. “We look forward to continue working with you and to keep growing business and trade together. Also, we want to point out that our meeting at the Port was very productive and we were very impressed.”

While in Savannah, the delegation was joined by Mayor Eddie DeLoach, Mayor of Savannah, as well as Scott Center, WTCSav Chairman and member of the WTCA Board of Directors. The group concluded their visit with a tour of the world-renowned Savannah College of Art and Design and a tour and presentation by the Georgia Ports Authority at the Port of Savannah, the largest single container terminal in North America.

“We are honored that the office of the Trade Commission of Spain in Miami chose to visit Savannah. We are confident that this region’s attributes combined with the efforts of organizations like WTCSav are a major advantage for companies interested in doing business here, especially those with global operations,” said Mayor Eddie DeLoach.
