Session on Exports Awareness & Logistics

World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar in association with Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Government of India and Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India organized a session on exports from the State of Odisha with an objective to discuss the present status of exports from the State as well as outlay the concerns pertaining to the logistic facilities from the State.

Mrs Anindita Sengupta, Additional DGFT, Kolkata delivered the key note address and spoke about the role of DGFT in enhancing the exports from the State of Odisha and shared insights on the recent schemes of the Government of India for assisting the exporters. She further interacted with the exporters to know about their concerns and ensured all assistance and support from the office of Director General of Foreign Trade.

Mr B.K. Panda, Zonal Development Commissioner, Falta SEZ, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India made a detailed presentation on the existing numbers of merchandize and service exports from various SEZs across the nation. He also shared the details of the proposed railway linkages connecting Mahanadi and Godavari river belts and discussed about the Mumbai- Gopalpur- Vishakapatnam East – West Sea Port Corridor. He encouraged the exporters’ fraternity to effectively utilize the SEZ.

Dr Kamalesh Mishra, President Sea Food Exporters Association of India Odisha Region, made a presentation to outline the major products being exported from Odisha and highlighted the growth trajectory of Odisha to be recognized by the Central Government as a 'Champion State' for recording the highest growth in exports during 2016-17. “Between 2012-13 and 2017-18, in terms of USD, shipments from the state witnessed a positive growth of 19.40 per cent against the
negative growth of 2.37 per cent in overall exports of India” he added. 

Mr Sanjay Singh, Vice President (Business Development), Gopalpur Ports Limited and Mr. S. Mohanty, Manager, Paradip International Cargo Terminal Ltd. made presentations on the services available in their respective facilities. They further interacted with the delegates and offered the best solutions for direct export by the fraternity.

Earlier Ms Nimeshika Natarajan, Assistant Director, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar welcomed the dignitaries and delegates to the session and highlighted the objective of the session.
