Russia and India are strengthening links

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - World Trade Center Moscow hosted a business breakfast with representatives of the World Trade Centre Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries. Representatives of the Russian authorities and businesses from various economic sectors and the Indian party discussed common interests and areas to promote cooperation, including through the chambers of commerce and associations and World Trade Centers.

The business breakfast was attended by Sergey Cheremin – Moscow Government Minister, Head of the Foreign Economic and International Relations Department of Moscow, the Chairman of the Board of the Business Council for Cooperation with India, Yuriy Tkachenko – Director General of the WTC Krasnodar and the Chairman of the Krasnodar Chamber of Commerce and Indusrty, Alexey Senturin – Vice president and executive director of the Russian Steel association, Yuriy Mishin, – Chairman of the Russian Steel association Steering Committee, Tatiana Legchilina – Deputy Director of the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yuriy Morozov – head of the Department of international and interregional cooperation, Oxana Bogomolova – head of the Department of Congress and Exhibition Activity, Dmitry Vostrikov – Director of Development of Rusprodsoyuz Association. The meeting was led by Vladimir Salamatov – Director General of the World Trade Center Moscow, Chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee on economic integration of SCO and the CIS.  

The Indian delegation was represented by the Executive Director of the All India Association of Industries Mrs. Rupa Naik and WTC Mumbai Corporate Relations Director Mrs. Niita Kolhatkar. Nowadays Mumbai is one of the largest economic centers in India. 

"What we have in common – we're both very emotional cultures", said Mrs. Rupa Naik and expressed surprise why despite of this business relations are not as good as they could be. She also told about developed system of Indian professional associations and trade chambers, adding that they’re willing to participate in industries’ forums and communicate with Russian companies.   

"Today we’re representing you the most perspective industries for the mutual cooperation. And we are interested in information about indian companies, associations' members in turn" – WTC Moscow Director of the International Cooperation and Trade Promotion Department Roman Gubenko noticed.

Sergey Cherymin noted that many Indian companies would like to start business in Russia, including localizing pharmaceuticals. He also noted that the Russian business for its part is trying to rid the Common Market of the bureaucracy and protectionism.

Chairman of the Management Committee of NP "Russian Steel" Yuriy Mishin mentioned the close cooperation between India and the Soviet Union in the steel industry, and noted that at present, India has the largest potential for development in this sector. In the words of Development Director of the Association of manufacturers and suppliers of food products "Rusprodsoyuz" Dmitriy Vostrikov, the Russian party is interested in expansion of contacts in product supply, including spices and vegetables that are produced in Russia in insufficient quantity.

Yuriy Tkachenko, in his turn, stressed that Krasnodar Region provides all the institutions of market economy, including extensive network of Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry - there are 32 Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and business is very active. He also invited guests from India to visit the International Investment Forum in Sochi, which will be held in early October, and offered the WTC Krasnodar services of hotel assignment of Indian delegation and companies.

Concluding a meeting the parties exchanged information on the upcoming industrial and investment forums and agro-industrial exhibitions that may be of strategic importance for the development of international relations and trade cooperation between Russia and India, as they provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the business and manufacturers.
