Port of San Diego employees, tenants and friends will be sprucing up parks and shorelines along San Diego Bay on Thursday, November 7, 2019 in the second annual #ThatsMyBay Day of Service. The Port invites the public to participate in this fun-filled community event to improve the environment of the Port of San Diego tidelands.

The cleanup begins at 8:30 a.m. and will take place at five locations. They are:

  • Chula Vista Bayfront Park, 980 Marina Way, Chula Vista, 91910
  • Chula Vista Wildlife Reserve, 990 Bay Blvd., Chula Vista, 91911 (rougher terrain and greater walking distance than the other sites)
  • Port of San Diego Harbor Police Headquarters (check in behind the headquarters), Liberator Way, San Diego, 92101
  • Pepper Park, 3299 Tidelands Avenue, National City, 91950
  • Tuna Harbor Park/Embarcadero, 3 Tuna Lane, San Diego, 92101
Light snacks, water and coffee will be provided in the morning and a complimentary lunch will be served at the after-party, taking place at Pepper Park at noon. The Port will provide a complimentary shuttle for the public from each cleanup location to Pepper Park and back.

“#ThatsMyBay Day of Service helps raise awareness of the importance of keeping San Diego Bay and its shorelines clean and healthy. We want more people to be able to enjoy the bay’s recreational amenities, be able to fish in it, swim in it, and ensure that its plant and wildlife continue to thrive for generations to come,” said Garry Bonelli, Chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners.

Attendees of the after-party will have a chance to meet Storm Drayne, the legendary eco-rocker of the Port’s latest #ThatsMyBay pollution prevention campaign. His hits “Clear the Way for a Rainy Day,” “These Leaves,” and “Clean This Oil My Man” are all featured on the Port of San Diego website, portofsandiego.org. The after-party will also feature entertainment and prizes from radio station 100.7 KFMB FM.
