Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Ille-et-Vilaine Chamber of Commerce and Industry

As part of its partnership with the Master’s program in International Business and SMEs at the University of Rennes, the WTC Rennes Bretagne recently hosted a workshop on Indonesia. Organized by the students of the PRISME Association, this event highlighted the opportunities and complexities of the Indonesian market.

Indonesia, the world’s largest archipelago and an emerging power in Southeast Asia, plays a strategic role on the global economic stage. With a GDP exceeding $1.4 trillion in 2024, it ranks as the 16th largest economy worldwide and aims to enter the top 10 by 2030.

The workshop analyzed the economic exchanges between France and Indonesia, which amount to around €3 billion annually. Key sectors for French exports include aerospace, industrial equipment, cosmetics, and agri-food products, while France mainly imports palm oil, rubber, furniture, electronics, and textiles. Development prospects in areas such as luxury goods, energy, and green technologies were also discussed.

The event opened with an introduction by Pierre HERNAN ROJAS, Lecturer in Economics at the Catholic Institute of Paris, followed by a conference led by Lucas MASCARADE, lawyer in charge of the Indonesia Desk at DS Avocats, and Victor LEQUILLERIER, economist at BPI France.

Finally, a panel discussion moderated by journalist Xavier Debontride brought together several experts:

  • Jean-Christophe ALLO (Laminak Energy) – Innovation and project development advisor in renewable energies
  • ClĂ©ment GUITTET (Exavision) – Head of Sales – Export in security and surveillance solutions
  • Bruno LEDOUX (TwoFrenchL) – General Manager specializing in the trade of dairy ingredients

Many thanks to all the experts and speakers for their insightful analyses and valuable exchanges, which provided a concrete and enriching perspective on the Indonesian market.

This workshop offered participants an in-depth view of the economic and commercial challenges in Indonesia, fostering exchanges and the sharing of expertise on this dynamic market.
