Ocean Exchange Provides Global Solutions

Oct 23, 2014

SAVANNAH, GA, USA – On October 5-7, 2014, companies, organizations and individuals brought their innovative solutions to Savannah, GA for a chance to win one of two awards of $100,000-US. The Ocean Exchange™ is a platform for organizations across the globe to present new and innovative solutions, which encourage a positive impact on environments, economies and health. Not only does the annual conference empower the success of solutions, it also expands the global reach for businesses and offers an opportunity for entrepreneurs and researchers to collaborate.

This year the Ocean Exchange™ showcased solutions from multiple countries. Seven of the ten solutions presented at this year’s event came from outside of the United States, including but not limited to: Kenya, India, Sweden and Denmark. The $100,000 – US Gulfstream Navigator Award, sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, was presented to Okeanos Technologies. Okeanos Technologies, a company based out of the United States, showcased a proprietary chip that detaches salt from seawater at the micro level, which could reduce the cost of taming saline into portable water. The second $100,000 – US Orcelle Award, sponsored by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, was presented to a Swedish firm, Minesto AB. The firm’s solution features an underwater device which attaches to the bottom of the ocean floor and generates electricity from the ocean’s tidal currents.

World Trade Center Savannah is a proud sponsor of The Ocean Exchange™ and encourages other World Trade Centers to learn about the platform.
