Nunavut’s Growing Economy

Feb 24, 2017

WINNIPEG, CANADA - The World Trade Centre Winnipeg recently welcomed the Nunavut Economic Developers Association (NEDA) to its establishment to discuss future collaboration between the province of Manitoba et the territory of Nunavut.

Northern opportunities and investment have been a hot topic for some time now. More and more Manitoban and Canadian companies are seeing first-hand the potential that lies in this vast region. NEDA provides programs and services to economic development organizations and professionals to build capacity and strengthen Nunavut’s communities.

Derek Earl, Vice-President of WTC Winnipeg explains, “There is a tremendous amount of potential in Nunavut for our local Manitoban companies. Between now and 2019 alone, Agnico Eagle will be investing $1.2 billion on the construction of two new mines in Nunavut. Great news for us in terms of materials needed for infrastructure, services, and more.”
