New Chairman of WTC Taipei: Mr. Francis Liang

TAIPEI, TAIWAN - The World Trade Center Taipei welcomed its new chairman, Francis Liang, who succeeded Dr. Chih-Kang Wang on Sept. 9, 2014. Liang said he will do his utmost to carry on WTC Taipei’s commitment to this big family.

WTC Taipei to run new landmark exhibition center in central Taiwan

The WTC Taipei, under Liang’s leadership, has recently won a contract bid to operate and manage a future conference and exhibition center in Taichung. In addition to the first two WTC Taipei exhibition halls and convention center at Taipei and Nankang, it will be the 3rd WTC Taipei exhibition hall.

With a planned floor space of 139,500 square meters, the Taichung Convention & Exhibition Center will have the capacity to house 3,300 standard-size (3x3 meters) booths and 30,000 visitors. The center is expected to become a key hub for regional and international MICE activities. Scheduled to open in 2017, the center will provide world-class venues and services for major shows and events set to take place in the flourishing city of Taichung in the future.

Liang’s first WTCA event

Shortly after taking up the role as WTC Taipei Chairman in September 2014, Liang participated in the WTCA Board of Directors Meeting in London as an observer. It was a valuable opportunity for the new head of WTC Taipei to gain a better understanding of the Association and exchange his ideas with the Board of Directors.

Liang is the former Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs of Taiwan. He has played instrumental roles in the economy’s key trade negotiations and contributed greatly to Taiwan’s economic development in the past 35 years. As the chairman of WTC Taipei, Liang has vowed to contribute his experience and expertise to the WTCA family and work closely with the members of the Association.
