Netherlands Delegation Visits WTCSavannah

Oct 27, 2017

Savannah, GA, USA – On September 28, World Trade Center Savannah (WTCSav) hosted a delegation from the Netherlands. The group was mainly logistics focused, consisting of companies interested in making business connections in the Coastal Georgia region. Organized by the Holland International Distribution Council (HIDC), the delegation also included the Consulate General of the Netherlands and representatives from the Port of Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe.

WTCSav organized a networking reception for the delegation in downtown Savannah, connecting the group of 10 with more than 25 regional business leaders. Attendees included WTCSav partner companies such as JCB North America, Georgia Ports Authority and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, as well as economic development authority executives from throughout the Coastal Georgia region.

“The contacts at the reception were great, especially with our operations in Rotterdam,” said Rhett Willis, CEO/President of D.J. Powers Company, one of Georgia's first freight forwarders and customs brokerage firms.

Representatives from the Port of Rotterdam gave a short presentation highlighting similarities with the Port of Savannah. The presentation was a result of their recent research on the US East coast – EU sea trade. The presentation provided insights in industry verticals and related seagoing freight between the East coast and EU ports.

The group concluded their visit with a tour and presentation at the Port of Savannah, the largest single container terminal in North America.
