Nearly 300 attend International Business Luncheon

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA - The World Trade Center Northern California (Sacramento) enthusiastically welcomed nearly 300 attendees to the 18th Annual International Business Luncheon, held on May 28 in Sacramento. Every year, the event provides a dynamic forum on the state of international trade and highlights the opportunities for Northern California’s companies to capture a stronger market presence globally.

Networking Globally

The signature event brought the region’s business executives, civic leaders and national stakeholders together for a unique opportunity to network globally. Business professionals from a variety of industries including manufacturing, engineering, agriculture, renewable energy and education met with consuls and trade representatives from over 25 countries to learn about the international markets with demand for their goods and services.

Recognition

The World Trade Center Northern California (Sacramento) and the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center presented Elk Grove Milling with the Export Achievement Award in recognition of their exporting success and commitment to growing their business internationally. The California Energy Commission was presented with the Citizen Diplomat of the Year award. This annual award recognizes organizations that go above and beyond to lend time and enthusiasm to the WTC Northern California (Sacramento) and U.S. Department of State through the International Exchanges Program in Sacramento.

Dynamic Speakers

Providing a valuable economic forecast, Bay Area Council Economic Institute Vice President Tracey Grose spoke on global drivers of change and the emerging opportunities for California. Michael Parr, Vice President of International Sales at Wente Family Estates, spoke about the international growth of Wente into one of California’s largest producers and exporters of premium wine. 

Background

The International Business Luncheon was launched in 1996 as a platform to create and promote international business relationships and foster increased participation in global trade in Northern California. Over the years, World Trade Center Northern California (Sacramento) has had the honor of hosting consuls and trade representatives from more than 100 countries and regions, connecting them with local businesses and growing trade opportunities.
