Interactive Session on Odisha Taiwan Trade Ties

An interactive meeting with Mr George Lin, Director, World Trade Centre Taipei & Mr Chris Lin, Project Manager, TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) was organised by World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar. The objective of this meeting was to showcase how TAITRA can help the MSMEs of Odisha to increase their export businesses and help them to build a strong India- Taiwan trade ties.

Mr George Lin started the session on a welcoming note on the theme of “Meet Taiwan” He briefed about how Taiwan is a great hub for business, finance, hi-tech innovation & quality products. He explained the decade long trade ties of Taiwan with Asian Countries.
He presented the 2018 Taiwan Trade Shows calendar to the participants and urged them attend the relevant Trade Shows for getting a good insight of their respective sectors.
He informed everyone about the MEET TAIWAN portal, which is sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade for providing a quick access to information that, will help everyone to arrange an event in Taiwan.

The interaction was taken ahead by Mr Chris Lin, who briefly explained how TAITRA has formed a global network dedicated to promote World Trade. He spoke on how TAITRA leads large-scale trade missions to attend international exhibitions & organizes trade shows overseas. He educated everyone about their online trade service, Taiwan Trade, Taiwan’s biggest B2B site covering Taiwanese exporters in all Industries.

He also spoke about the Asia e-commerce Forum and Trade Meetings organized by TAITRA to connect Global E-Commerce heavyweights to one another.

Ms Nimeshika Natarajan, Assistant Director, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar, earlier in her welcome address introduced Mr. George Lin and Mr. Chris Lin to the august gathering. While welcoming the team from TAITRA she explained them about the vast potentials and opportunities for International Trade which could be explored between Odisha and Taiwan. She further urged them to take the collaboration forward with various sector based skill exchange programs and mutual participation in various trade shows by both the nations. 

The session concluded with an open house discussion with individuals exchanging ideas on language training courses, food processing sector, engineering sector, the pharmaceutical industry and the tourism and culture of Taiwan. Certain members from WTC Bhubaneswar also emphasized to have an insight of Waste Management Techniques followed in their country.

Mr. S.K. Jena, Director, Directorate of Export Promotion and Marketing proposed the vote of thanks.
