Dr Ibrahim Represented Malaysia at 56th WTCA GBF

Dato’ Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim, Group Managing Director of World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), represented Malaysia at the 56th annual World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) Global Business Forum (GBF) which was held from 19th until 22nd April 2026 in Philadelphia, United States. 

The annual forum convenes nearly 300 global leaders from business, government, academia and international organisations, representing 93 World Trade Centers businesses across 46 countries and territories. The programme focuses on strengthening cross-border collaboration to connect participants with potential business partners, investors and distributors worldwide through business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking, investment dialogue and sector discussions covering key growth industries such as technology, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, sustainability and real estate development. 

Dato’ Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim’s participation reflects WTCKL’s commitment to strengthening global collaboration within the Business Events (BE) ecosystem, while supporting national efforts to position Malaysia as a preferred destination for international Business Events through active engagement on global networking platforms.

This effort aligns with the extension of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign until the end of 2027, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, which provides an opportunity to intensify Malaysia’s promotional efforts among the global business community amid evolving travel patterns influenced by the Middle East conflict. 

Commenting on this opportunity, Dato’ Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim said, “Global networking platforms such as the WTCA Global Business Forum allow Malaysia to showcase its strengths as a preferred destination that is safe and stable for Business Events and tourism. By building good rapport with international delegates and attracting them to come to Malaysia, I believe we can support the nation’s efforts to drive visitor arrivals and reinforce the momentum of Visit Malaysia 2026, which is now extended to 2027.” 

As a Board Member of WTCA, Dato’ Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim continues to play an active role in strengthening global partnerships that can attract high-impact international conferences and exhibitions to Malaysia. His roles as Board of Directors for the Malaysian Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Member of Advisory for the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS) further reinforce Malaysia’s presence within the global Business Events ecosystem. 

His position and active engagement within the international Business Events ecosystem continue to strengthen Malaysia’s role within global institutional networks, while contributing to the development of the industry capacity through exposure to international developments and current practices.
