Canada’s Trade Accelerator Program

Sep 01, 2017

Canada's Trade Accelerator Program (TAP) is a highly successful program that helps businesses become export-ready. Created by the World Trade Centre Toronto in 2015, the program has helped over 120 companies develop concrete export plans to structure their expansions.

The World Trade Centre Winnipeg is proud to partner with the WTC Toronto to offer TAP Canada to Manitoba businesses this upcoming October.

“Global trade, and the diversification of our growth markets, is more critical than ever to the success of Canadian businesses. The Trade Accelerator Program has proven effective in helping Toronto region companies access new export markets and grow their business. Our partnership with World Trade Centre Winnipeg marks the first of our expansion plans to share TAP Canada’s success with SMEs across the country. We’re excited to see TAP-Manitoba bring even more Canadian businesses to the world,” expressed Leigh Smout, Executive Director of the WTC Toronto.

Through its Expert Partners, TAP Canada gives companies access to Canada’s top exporting advisors, resources and contacts. Companies will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders to build a comprehensive export plan, and then begin its implementation.

Derek Earl, Vice-President of the WTC Winnipeg adds, “We are thrilled to work with WTC Toronto on the first TAP-Manitoba. We’ve witnessed a growing need for businesses to establish structure in exporting. Many companies are doing business internationally without a global plan and it is becoming difficult for them to do adhoc exporting. It’s clear that companies need additional structure which TAP Canada is built to offer.”

The WTC Winnipeg is currently recruiting Manitoba businesses for its Fall program. The program will run over the course of two months and will consist of four full days of presentations, training and one-on-one export plan validation by industry experts.
