British Consul General Visits Savannah

Jul 15, 2021

World Trade Center Savannah (WTCSav) was delighted to host a team from the British Consulate General in Atlanta during their recent trip to Savannah. Consul General Andrew Staunton, Vice-Consul Sarah Banks and Head of Political Affairs Matthew Towery spent time in Savannah representing British interests. The visit kicked off with remarks from the Consul General to the Savannah Council for World Affairs and was followed by two days of meetings and tours with a number of Savannah businesses and organizations. In addition to WTCSav, the team spent time with the Savannah Economic Development Authority (SEDA), the Savannah Regional Film Commission and Visit Savannah. Additionally, the team received tours of Georgia Ports Authority and the new Rolls-Royce Customer Service Facility.

"It was a delight to visit Savannah as my first official trip in over a year," said Staunton. "Apart from its natural beauty, there's a real sense of vibrancy in the local economy. For example, it was obvious that the hospitality and advanced manufacturing sectors are flourishing. With the expansion of the Port and its commercial ecosystem, it's not wonder companies like Rolls-Royce are choosing Savannah for expanded operations. My sincere thanks to SEDA and World Trade Center Savannah for showing us all that the area has to offer."

Having the opportunity to host diplomats such as Mr. Staunton and his team directly supports WTCSav's mission to attract investment and create jobs. By educating our guests on the strategic advantages of doing business in and around Savannah, we are further developing diplomatic relationships and ensuring the region continues to be top of mind as a compelling place for doing business.
