A conference to announce the Master Plan for Binh Duong Province for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, was held this morning at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center.
In his opening remarks, Standing Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong People’s Committee, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, highlighted that this plan will address several challenges from the previous period and set the goal of transforming Binh Duong into a centrally-governed city by 2030, with new breakthroughs. He emphasized the province’s key role in fostering regional development in Southeast Vietnam, contributing to building the region into a dynamic economic zone and a national hub for finance, education, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
The plan sets specific targets for the province, including an expected average annual economic growth rate of approximately 10% for the 2021-2030 period. By 2030, Binh Duong’s per capita GRDP is projected to reach around US$15,800.
In terms of economic structure by 2030, the industrial and construction sectors will account for 64%, services for 28%, agriculture, forestry, and fishery for 2%, and product taxes minus subsidies for 6%. The province’s urbanization rate is expected to reach 88-90%, while the digital economy is projected to make up 30% of the total economy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, in his speech, praised the efforts of the event organizers, including Binh Duong Province and the Ministry of Planning and Investment. He emphasized that this plan will play a crucial role in the province’s rapid and sustainable development, driving economic growth and attracting investment.
The Prime Minister outlined several priority tasks for the implementation of the plan and noted existing challenges in transportation infrastructure and international supply chain participation. He urged local authorities and relevant agencies to actively seek solutions to improve these areas.
At the event, the Prime Minister witnessed several cooperation agreements being signed. Becamex IDC Corporation (under the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee) and the Korea Office of Smart Manufacturing (KOSMO) signed a cooperation agreement to foster international exchanges, collaborate in promoting smart manufacturing, industrial development, and support cooperation for smart city development projects. Binh Duong also partnered with COEX (Korea) to promote industrial trade and investment.
Later in the morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also attended the Electric Energy Show and Automation World Vietnam 2024, which opened at the WTC EXPO in Binh Duong.
As part of the conference, investment certificates were awarded to eight projects with a total registered capital of US$1.8 billion. Additionally, a cooperation and development agreement was signed between Becamex Corporation, Coex, and Kosmo.
