BECAMEX PROPOSES 153 TRILLION VND RAIL PROJECT

On October 1, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Duoc, led a delegation to Binh Duong Ward to discuss major transport infrastructure projects with Becamex Group.

A central focus of the meeting was the proposed Bau Bang – Cai Mep railway, designed to connect Southern Key Economic Zones to Cai Mep – Thi Vai seaport, a critical international gateway. Chairman Duoc emphasized the city’s strong support for Becamex to lead detailed research and investment planning for this strategic line.

He also encouraged Becamex to advance studies on the Suoi Tien – Binh Duong urban railway, which aligns with the city’s long-term development plans. Both projects are expected to incorporate modern investment models, transit-oriented development (TOD) mechanisms, and land-use strategies to maximize efficiency.

Vice Chairman Bui Xuan Cuong underlined the need for an integrated master plan rather than isolated studies. He noted that comprehensive planning and coordination across provinces would make the rail projects more feasible and sustainable.

Representing Becamex, Chairman Nguyen Van Hung reaffirmed the group’s readiness to invest alongside partners once legal frameworks are clear, aiming to secure full investment by 2030.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Duoc stressed the shared commitment: “We discuss for action, not for delay.” Ho Chi Minh City pledged to coordinate with ministries, provinces, and Becamex to accelerate these transformative rail connections for the Southern Key Economic Region.
