Binh Duong aims to become Vietnam's leading innovation center
On Sep 19, 2024, at Binh Duong Exhibition and Convention Center, Becamex IDC, Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) signed three memorandums of understanding on cooperation to promote digital transformation and develop high-quality human resources.
Attending were Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong People's Committee; Mr. Te Cheng Pang, Consul General of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC, Co-Chairman of VSIP; Professor Aaron Thean, Principal, Vice President of Academic Affairs of NUS.
This important cooperation signing event will lay the foundation for a comprehensive strategic partnership in the coming time. The main areas of cooperation through the three signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) include: improving digital skills; education and medical research; and promoting Industry 4.0.

Promoting digital transformation and human resource development
Binh Duong is the leading industrial capital of Vietnam, where the first VSIP industrial park was formed before spreading across the country, and was chosen as a strategic location to form a new generation platform. This is the continuation and upgrading of the strategic and symbolic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore over the past 30 years; from industrialization in the early period to a new stage, in which training high-quality human resources and innovation are the new key growth drivers.
Over the past 3 decades, VSIP has become a symbol of economic cooperation between the two countries, promoting socio-economic development in Binh Duong and more than 13 provinces and cities across the country. Since 2019, Becamex and NUS Enterprise have jointly implemented Block 71 Saigon; In 2023, the Vietnam - Singapore Innovation Center will be established at the Eastern International University (EIU).
The three signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation to promote digital transformation and develop high-quality human resources will be implemented with cooperation activities aimed at creating a foundation for developing high-quality human resources; research and development; innovation and startups to promote the high-tech industrial and service ecosystem for Binh Duong and Vietnam, through the system of industrial parks and urban areas of Becamex and VSIP.
This cooperation signing event is expected by the parties to create a strong impact on science and technology development activities, and innovation in strategic areas for Vietnam's development in the next period, such as electronics - semiconductors, digital transformation, industry 4.0, health sciences, information technology, and AI... Shared research and development infrastructure is expected to be established in Binh Duong to expand cooperation with leading universities in Vietnam.
