24th WTCA Day – Destination India Meeting

In celebration of the 24th anniversary of WTCA Day (June 12), the 24th WTCA Day – Destination India meeting, themed “Connecting Global Opportunities with India’s Growth Story,” concluded successfully on June 9, 2026. This marked the first in-person regional WTCA Day program, hosted by the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) and co-hosted by World Trade Center Pune. The exclusive event brought together 90 attendees representing 25 World Trade Center (WTC) businesses across the region, along with local Indian companies.

India continues to rank among the world’s fastest-growing major economies, driven by innovation, infrastructure development, digital transformation, and a vast consumer market. As a global hub for trade, investment, and entrepreneurship, India offers exceptional opportunities for businesses seeking long-term growth and strategic partnerships.

The 2026 WTCA Day meeting featured keynote speeches by Mr. Prakash Javadekar, Former Union Minister, Government of India; and Mr. Siddharth Shirole, Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, who shared insights on India’s economic potential. Ms. Rhea Sekhon, Senior Manager at Invest India, presented the government’s measures to support investment in the country. Mr. Scott Wang, WTCA Vice President, Asia Pacific; and Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman of WTC Mumbai and WTCA Board Director, delivered welcome remarks. They were joined by Mr. Sagar Chordia, Chairman of WTC Pune; and Mr. Niraj Khinvasara, Executive Director of WTC Pune.

Two high-level panel discussions were conducted, focusing on “Investment Opportunity in India” and “The WTC Network as a Strategic Investment Multiplier.” Moderated by Mr. Niraj Khinvasara, Executive Director of WTC Pune, and Ms. Priya Pansare, Director of Trade & Investment Promotion at WTC Mumbai, industry leaders from WTC Thane, Tata Sons, India EXIM Bank, WTC Jaipur, WTC Nashik, WTC Bengaluru, and WTC Shamshabad shared their perspectives on India’s opportunities and the strategic role of the WTCAnetwork.

A WTCA Member meeting was held in the latter half of the day with updates on the WTCA Investment Matchmaking Program (IMP), WTCA branding platforms, Asia Pacific regional programs, India business development, as well as Business Club and Trade Services MACs. It was followed by a WTC Pune facility showcase and networking reception, providing attendees with opportunities to connect and explore partnerships.

In 2002, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaimed June 12 to be "WTCA Day," which was subsequently acknowledged by the office of the Secretary General of the United Nations, to recognize the WTCA and its network of WTC businesses for encouraging and facilitating trade, promoting economic development and fostering peace.
