2018 Chinese-Speaking WTC Regional Meeting

Xi’an, CHINA – Organized by WTCA’s Beijing Representative Office, the 2018 WTCA Chinese-Speaking WTC Regional Meeting & Training was hosted by WTC Xi’an in Shaanxi Province, China during June 27–30, 2018. The meeting attracted more than 50 attendees representing 22 WTCs in the region. 

Led by Mr. Scott Ferguson, WTCA CEO, the WTCA team gave an update on WTCA work progress, regional development, WTCA Foundation and digital platform. The WTC best practice sharing session was highlighted by introduction of international trade mart/permanent exhibition space (WTC Taipei), China Import Expo (WTC Shanghai), China-ASEAN Expo (WTC Nanning), CBD shared service platform (China WTC), and smart space management system in WTC facilities (WTC Suzhou). In addition, the WTCA Holdings presented solutions to enable WTCs with both facility and trade services capacity. 

The audience was also inspired by a keynote “Chinese Brands Going Global – A Cultural Perspective” presented by industry expert Mr. Wenfeng Li. It was followed by a workshop featuring focus groups on global access, network development, space management, and conference & exhibition. A special lecture on Shaanxi trade & investment situation, as well as several industrial tours, were arranged for the participants to learn more about local economy and culture. 

On June 29, Mr. Scott Ferguson attended the 2nd World Xi’an Entrepreneurs Convention hosted by the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) and delivered a keynote speech. During the convention, WTCA and SRCIC signed an MOU to join force for facilitation of international trade and investment.
