Ambassador of Qatar

WASHINGTON, DC - On June 5, 2017 Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates cut off diplomatic ties with Qatar. Eventually releasing a list of demands, the diplomatic row has left the Gulf Cooperation Council in crisis.

Please join the World Affairs Council as they host His Excellency Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad M.J. Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States. He will address the current diplomatic crisis that Qatar is experiencing.

Ambassador Al Thani became the Ambassador of Qatar to the U.S. in December 2016. Prior to that appointment Ambassador Al Thani served as the Ambassador to France from November 2013 to October 2016. He is a career diplomat who has spent most of his professional life as a part of the Foreign Service of Qatar.
