Feb 11, 2020

SALT LAKE CITY (January 14, 2020) – Seven Utah companies and organizations were recruited by World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) to attend CES 2020 in Las Vegas as part of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) Delegate Program from January 7-10. The first mission of its kind developed by the WTCA, the program was a collaboration among the association, World Trade Center Las Vegas and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), owner and producer of CES, the world’s largest and most influential global technology event.

“The companies were selected for their interest in how the industry is developing globally,” said WTC Utah’s Vice President of International Investment David Carlebach. “With nearly 7,000 tech companies in Utah, the delegation excelled in representing the diversity of the industry within our state.”

A 2018 report by the University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute found that, compared to other states with similarly sized economies, Utah had the largest tech industry in terms of total employment and wages in the private sector.

The seven Utah companies who represented the state as WTC Utah member delegates included:

Brydge
Funded Today
IconIQ Talks
Kiln
Soon App
Technology & Venture Commercialization at the University of Utah
Women’s Tech Council

As part of the delegation, the companies were invited to participate in exclusive international matchmaking sessions and received complimentary registration for the event.

“Between Salt Lake City and Lehi, Kiln is home to some of the fastest-growing tech companies in the Silicon Slopes and beyond. Kiln adds value to these members by creating workspaces and programming schedules that are tailored to these company’s unique challenges,” said Andrew Redpath, Co-Founder & COO of Kiln. “We attended CES with WTC Utah with one main purpose, to gain relevant and innovative insights on how we can improve our services to benefit the needs of our growing member base.”

WTC Utah leads Utah’s international business development and elevates Utah’s global status to promote prosperity and build economic resilience. “Our objective as an organization is to take Utah to the world as well as to bring the world to Utah,” said Carlebach, who noted that a common theme during the CES trade show was ambient data and data privacy. “Through their participation, these seven Utah companies gained key insights into the future of the industry, giving them a competitive edge at home and abroad.”

Throughout 2020, WTC Utah will continue to lead state delegations to internationally renowned trade shows while focusing on the technology, composites, aerospace and defense, life science and outdoor industries. To learn more about upcoming international business opportunities, visit wtcutah.com.
