On February 13, 2025 World Trade Center Bremen and the Foreign Business Club
under the patronage of WFB Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH had the pleasure to
welcome the delegation of World Trade Center Twente Business Club to the Free
Hanseatic City of Bremen.
The highlight of the visit agenda was a fascinating and informative tour of the
Mercedes-Benz factory. The plant in Bremen is the second biggest production
site of Mercedes-Benz in the world. It has 1.5 million square meters of factory
space; and 11,500 employees are involved in the vehicle assembly.
We took a look behind the scenes at the entire production process: starting
with a press workshop where the car bodies are being formed and put together
and finishing with the final assembly stage. The Bremen plant operates 24
hours/5 days a week, producing 1,600 customized vehicles per day, most of
which are exported worldwide. Interesting fact about customization: for nine MB
models manufactured in Bremen 280,000 (!) variants of seats are available. It
was impressive to learn how the factory ensures the smoothly uninterruptible
production, especially its coordination with the suppliers.
At the end of the factory tour we had a chance to take the wheel of a Mercedes
GLC during an off-road parcours and prove our driving skills. It was an
unforgettable experience!
We are looking forward to a return visit from Bremen to Twente and will deepen
collaboration between the business communities of the two neighboring regions.
