The United Nations Industrial Deveopment Organization (UNIDO), in partnership with Italy’s Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO Italy), the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, AREA Science Park Trieste and World Trade Center Trieste, hosted the “GMIS Roadshow Italy” on November 15, 2018, in Trieste.
The initiative is part of the “Global Manufacturing & Industrialisation Summit” (GMIS) that will take place July 2019 in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

The theme of the Roadshow was “Industry 4.0 and Innovation”, a timely topic considering that Italy just approved a national action plan on this issue. The WTC Trieste recruited WTC Moscow’s Maria Trubnikova, Head of Department of International Business Cooperation, as a speaker. Ms. Trubnikova stated that the WTC Moscow is excited to cooperate with the GMIS Team to organize the 2019 Summit event – the second of its kind - that is expected to draw participants from all over the world.

The afternoon session was held in Wärtsilä, a global leader in smart technologies and complete lifecycle solutions for marine and energy markets. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in interactive roundtable discussions on Industry 4.0 opportunities and challenges, followed by a guided tour of the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
