TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Among all the exhibits at this year's technology-packed COMPUTEX show that ended at on 3 June, the InnoVEX startup extravaganza was the most eye-catching. The exhibit drew the attention of well over a third of the show's 41,378 visitors from 167 countries, all eager to catch a glimpse of the latest innovations in IoT, AI, health management, VR/AR, cloud computing, wearables and mobility offered by the world's top startup companies.

The InnoVEX provided an all-in-one platform for the participating startups to connect with international VCs, angel investors, incubators and accelerators, potential strategic partners and future customers. With 272 startups from 23 countries gathered at InnoVEX to launch their innovations, the exhibit highlighted Taiwan's unique strength as a startup-friendly ecosystem with a reliable industry base to turn dreams into reality.

The culminating event of this year's InnoVEX was the “Startup Pitch Competition,” which saw 100 startup teams from around the world competing for the US$30,000 Grand Prize. This year’s Grand Prize winner was the security-as-a-service startup company Amaryllo who was awarded for its 360-degree face-detection auto-tracking robot.

Co-organized by Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) and Taipei Computer Association (TCA), COMPUTEX is Asia's largest and the world's 2nd largest showcase of ICT innovations. One of the key themes of this year's show was AI technology. ITRI, Taiwan's foremost industrial research institution, exhibited nearly 30 intelligent technologies that covered the fields of vision, healthcare and smart city, as well as demonstrating a full-sized chess-playing robot that attracted scores of visitors.

In addition to the main showcase, the organizers arranged 955 business-to-business meetings between 181 VIP buyers and 297 exhibitors. There were also technology seminars, forums and demos held on the sidelines to provide the visitors with an even richer show-going experience, including keynotes from NVIDIA founder, president and CEO Jensen Huang, and IBM Greater China Group general manager Jeffrey A. Rhoda.

“COMPUTEX has been going through positive transformation over the past 2 years with featured exhibits and forum topics in sync with the global technology trends and maintaining its leading position internationally," said TWTC President & CEO Walter Yeh. “We hope to bring global innovations and startups to join COMPUTEX and become the best platform for big corporations and startups to establish strategic partnerships.”
