The 2017 Taiwan Expo hosted by the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam has successfully wrapped up on July 28.

Attracting over 24,000 visitors and generating more than 27 million US dollars in business, the 3-day exhibition was organized for the first time in Vietnam to promote the image of Taiwanese brands and products in the fast-growing ASEAN market.

The Expo received widespread media coverage and attracted quite a few major buyers, including Vietnam’s second largest e-commerce company Tiki and Japanese retail giant Aeon Group, to look for potential suppliers from Taiwan.

Impressed by the strong lineup of high quality Taiwanese products at the show, Tiki announced that it would host a Taiwan Supermarket on its Tiki.vn marketplace. Meanwhile, Aeon Group has indicated that it will be launching a Taiwanese food festival event at its Citimart supermarket in Ho Chi Minh City.

Under the banner of "Greener Tech, Smarter Life," the event brought together Taiwanese companies from seven major industries to showcase their latest innovations. Over 4,000 premium products highlighting Taiwan’s green and smart technologies were on display across the expo's 8 themed pavilions.

There were also several events conducted on the sidelines of the Expo that drew large numbers of professional attendees and local visitors. There were business matchmaking sessions, healthcare industry gatherings and various cultural performances, as well as industry forums featuring keynote speakers from Taiwan's leading enterprises in the fields of IoT, healthcare, machinery and green energy.

Two more Taiwan Expos are scheduled to take place later in the year: The Philippines edition of the 2017 Taiwan Expo will take place in Manila, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, and the Malaysia edition is set to open in Kuala Lumpur, from Nov. 9 to 11.
