Bulgaria in figures 2016

SOFIA, BULGARIA - Тhe Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, WTC Sofia (AF), presented the latest, seventh edition of the brochure “Bulgaria in figures, 2016”. It provides systematized information in English about Bulgarian economy in the period 2011 – 2015 and allows for quick and easy acquaintance with the main economic indicators and conditions for doing business in Bulgaria, emphasizing the country’s achievements and advantages. Up-to-date information about Bulgaria’s position in international indices and classification is also included in the publication. 

“The publication is very well accepted by all experts, because it contains reliable data in a form which is easy to work with”, said the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov. He commented on the moderately positive results of the Bulgarian economy, pointing out the following data:

  • Ten successive quarters with economic growth: GDP increased by 2.9% in Q4 of 2015 (compared to the same quarter of 2014)
  • Growth of industrial production by 3% year-on-year basis in March 2016
  • Increased trust of consumers – retail trade in March 2016 grew by 6.2% year-on-year (despite the more moderate growth on monthly basis 0.8%)
  • More employed persons – 72 thousand more employed persons in Q4 of 2015 compared to the same quarter of 2014
  • Drop in unemployment – 93 thousand less unemployed persons in Q4 of 2015 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. 

The publication is extremely useful for every foreign business partner – it is distributed amongst 70 diplomatic missions accredited in Bulgaria, more than 60 Bulgarian commercial and economic sections abroad, as well as amongst international partners of the Chamber. The brochure is a valuable source of information for foreign delegations visiting Bulgaria, during business forums and other important events.
