BCCI strengthens ties with Black Sea Region

SOFIA, BULGARIA - The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (www.bcci.bg), took up the Presidency of the Business Council with the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation /BSEC/ from January 1st 2014 until June 30th 2014.
The priorities of the Presidency are transport, logistics, regional cooperation, promotion of SMEs and security.

Since the beginning of this year the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, license holder of WTC Sofia (AF) has been quite active in preparing events aimed at intensifying the relations between the countries of the Black Sea Region, including the European policy of interaction (synergy) with the countries of this region and increasing the visibility of the Organisation in the EU. Emphasis is put on the project-oriented approach in the regional cooperation.

Among the planned events is a business forum under the topic: Cooperation between SMEs in the BSEC region. The forum took place on March 21st 2014 in Sofia at BCCI’s premises. The aim of the event was to discuss the opportunities for cooperation in favor of business, as well as to organize business-to-business meetings between companies from member countries of BSEC. Representatives of Ministry of Economy and Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria, representatives of the Bulgarian SMEs Promotion Agency, BoD of BSEC BC, other national Associations and branch organizations, representatives of business took part in the forum. The target sectors of the business forum were: transport and logistics, infrastructure, ICT, energy and water supply, machinery and construction equipment, security, SMEs.

Meeting of the Board of Directors of BSEC was held during the 21st edition of the SECURITY EXPO, 19 – 22 March 2014 in Sofia http://www.bcci.bg/fairs/security/ where BSEC Chambers had a joint stand at the exhibition. 

Another major event which the Chamber is organizing on May 15th 2014 is a conference “Internationalization of the economy in SEE and Black sea Region through CEFTA implementation”. B2B meeting with companies from the region are planned again in order to strengthen the business cooperation in the priority sectors.
