BCCI presents new edition of “Bulgaria in Figures"

SOFIA, BULGARIA - On the eve of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the chambers of commerce and industry in Bulgaria, BCCI, License holder of WTC Sofia (AF), presented its annual edition â€śBulgaria in Figures”.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov also reported on the positive trends in various sectors of economy in the first months of 2015:

  • The GDP increased by 2% in the 1st quarter of 2015 as compared to the 1st quarter of 2014. Bulgaria ranks 11th by GDP growth among the EU member-states.
  • High growth rates of exports were recorded – from 12.8% in the period January – April 2015 as compared to January – April 2014.
  • An increase of the industrial production index by 1.5% in April 2015 as compared to April 2014.
  • Employed persons – 56 thousand more employed persons in the 1st quarter of 2015 as compared to the 1st quarter of 2014.
  • Registered budget surplus (consolidated fiscal programme) – over BGN 1.1 B in May 2015 as compared to deficit of BGN 887 M in May 2014.
  • 82% of the resources under the operational programmes have been absorbed by the end of May 2015, compared to 62% absorbed funds last year. Another positive trend is that Bulgaria has preserved its international rating.

The brochure “Bulgaria in figures” is issued in support of the positive opportunities provided by Bulgarian economy. This year’s edition presents summarized information about the country’s economy in the period 2010 – 2014 allowing to quickly get acquainted with the most important economic indicators and the conditions for doing business in Bulgaria. For the
first time Bulgaria’s position in the most important international rankings is included in the brochure.
