BCCI celebrated 120th Anniversary

SOFIA, BULGARIA - The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry celebrated 120th Anniversary from the establishment of chambers of commerce in Bulgaria. 

BCCI marked the jubilee with series of events the biggest one being an International business forum “The Role of Business Associations in Support of Entrepreneurship” that took place on 24 June 2015 in Sofia. 

The event was opened by H.E. Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, who presented the Chamber with a special award for its contribution to the development of business climate and defense of employers’ interest in Bulgaria. Former presidents of the country– H.E. Mr. Petar Stoyanov (1997 – 2002) and H.E. Mr. Georgi Parvanov (2002 – 2012) also congratulated the Chamber and its president – Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov with the Anniversary.

There were three main sessions presenting the cooperation between Bulgarian business associations and international organizations, economic growth in EU - the vision of Chambers of Commerce and businesses and Bulgarian economy perspectives - investments and financial stability.

Mr. Guy Ryder, Director General of the International Labor Organization congratulated the Management of the Chamber and made short speech regarding the collaboration between BCCI and ILO, as well as the main challenges before employers.
Dr. Peter Mihok, Chairman of ICC World Chambers Federation also extended his congratulations to the Management Board of the Chamber.

Representatives of international organizations, high officials and members of the Bulgarian Government, decision makers, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria, academia representatives, partners, businesses and media took part in the forum.
