To increase the global attention and participation to the 2022 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements (“2022 Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo”), CCPIT Shanghai / WTC Shanghai hosted a promotional meeting among foreign organizations on March 3 in Shanghai History Museum. Nearly 30 people attended the meeting, including: diplomats and commercial commissioners from 9 countries including Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Austria, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, the United States and the Republic of Korea; leaders from 7 foreign industrial and commercial organizations in Shanghai, including the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the British-China Business Council, the US-China Business Council, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Japan-China Economic and Trade Association, the Japan-China Science, Technology and Culture Center Shanghai Representative Office, and the Aichi Industry Promotion Agency Shanghai Representative Office; as well as foreign enterprises representatives from Grundfos, Danfoss, AVK, etc.
Mr. Minhao Zhou, Chairman of CCPIT Shanghai / WTC Shanghai, expressed his gratitude to the consular and trade organizations for their support to the work of CCPIT Shanghai. He introduced that in 2020 President Xi Jinping announced at the 75th Session of the United Nations General Assembly that China will strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Shanghai attaches great importance to the "Dual Carbon" work. According to the Work Report of Shanghai Municipal Government, it is one of the key tasks of Shanghai in 2022 to promote green and low-carbon development, build an ecological and livable city at a high level, and actively implement carbon peak and carbon neutral targets. Mr. Zhou welcomed the consulates and trade organizations present here to assist their companies to actively participate in China's "Dual Carbon" goal, work together to promote China's path of carbon neutrality, introduce advanced technologies and products to China and Shanghai, and jointly create a new situation of mutual benefits and win-win results.
Wang Lei, President of Shanghai International Exhibition Co., LTD, gave a detailed introduction to the upcoming "2022 Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo" to be held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center from June 15 to 18. The exhibition area is expected to reach 100,000 square meters. Related industries cover power, transportation, industry, new materials, construction, agriculture, negative carbon emissions, clean energy, low-carbon life, circular economy, carbon market trading, information technology and digitalization, integrated solutions and other fields.
Mr. Jakob Linulf, Consul General of Denmark in Shanghai and Head of the Shanghai Diplomatic Mission, said that sustainable development and environmental protection are the main goals of Nordic countries. He said that the main exhibits of "2022 Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo" is very compatible with the technologies and products of Danish and Nordic enterprises, and the Danish Consulate will actively encourage their enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region to participate in the expo. At the same time, as the Head of the Shanghai Diplomatic Mission, Consul General Linulf will vigorously promote the "2022 Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo" to all consulates in Shanghai, actively promote the extensive cooperation between the two sides in the fields of carbon reduction, energy conservation and green energy transformation, and jointly implement the concept of carbon neutrality.
After the meeting, the participants had extensive exchanges and in-depth interaction with the epxo team on the "2022 Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo", and visited the "Ancient Shanghai" exhibition area of Shanghai History Museum to learn about the long history and splendid civilization of Shanghai before the opening of commercial port. This promotional meeting marks the first event of the 2022 "Bridge of Economy and Trade" series activities hosted by the International Liaison Department of CCPIT Shanghai, and lays a solid foundation for the implementation of the international exchanges and promotion of the "2022 Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo" project.
