Port of San Diego to Host Second Public Open House on Port Master Plan Update

PRESS RELEASE:

As part of its ongoing Integrated Planning initiative, the Port of San Diego invites the public to attend the second of two Open House events focusing on the Port Master Plan Update.

The Open House will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the National City Aquatic Center, located at 3300 Goesno Place in National City. This event will provide an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to get an update on the proposed draft goals for the Planning Districts, the Mobility Element and the Economic Development Element that were presented to the Board of Port Commissioners on April 27.

The Open House will kick off with a presentation on the Port Master Plan Update by Port Chairman Robert “Dukie” Valderrama at 6:15 p.m. It will also include several breakout information stations where attendees can engage with members of the Port’s planning team to ask questions, learn more about this important initiative, and provide comments and feedback to inform this process. The comments will be considered in the drafting of the Port Master Plan Update.

The Open House is part of a series of public outreach events that are components of the Port’s Integrated Planning initiative, which spans 6,000 acres of land and water with the goal of setting a blueprint for baywide planning and development. In addition to modernizing the Port’s method for land and water planning, the Port Master Plan Update will create certainty for developers and other community members by codifying a vision for how future projects will fulfill public goals. The first Open House was held on March 23, 2017.
