Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Award

Nov 24, 2016

ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - On November 21, 2016, Kamera Express was awarded the 2016 Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Award. Entrepreneur Peter Merceij received the prestigious award from Alderman Maarten Struijvenberg during a celebratory ceremony at the WTC Rotterdam. Kamera Express beat FreelanceFactoring and Technotrading to win the award.

On behalf of the jury, the jury chair, Mai Elmar, said: “Peter Merceij and Ben Cornelisse are dynamic entrepreneurs who are determining their company strategy with utter passion and energy. They complement each other amazingly well in terms of knowledge and expertise, and are forging ahead not only on business indicators, but on gut feeling too. The company’s results are exceptionally good in a downward spiraling retail market. The results are partly due to their knowing their clients and knowing their staff, and the range on offer, both in terms of choice and in scale. Kamera Express is striving to create a market instead of following it. The speed with which new shops become operational is remarkable and possibly because they rest on a strong organizational foundation and a large amount of single-mindedness. The planned ‘experience center’ is not only innovative and creative, but is also a trend setter. Kamera Express’ story reads like an adventure story and the company and its entrepreneurs are a diamond in our region.”

The Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Award has been a highly-regarded award in the Rotterdam region for more than 31 years. Entrepreneurs in the region are rewarded for their good entrepreneurship. The event also stimulates other entrepreneurs and promotes the Rotterdam region as a prime location. The board and the jury members work with partners and friends to organize the Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Award every year and, independently and objectively, choose the region’s best entrepreneur.
