WTC Pune and USIIC Host Seminar on IPR Framework

PUNE, INDIA - WTC Pune had the privilege of hosting a Seminar on IPR framework in USA and India: Relevance and significance to the industry and business alongwith U.S. India Importers’ Council and U.S. Commercial Service, USA Dept. Of Commerce. 

Mr. Padmin Buch, Chairman of USIIC Ahmedabad Chapter Sub-Council on Pharma & IPR introduced the topic - Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) – Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, Designs, etc. as an integral and strategic component of business model – both domestic and international.
Ms. Shilpi Jha, Senior Legal Counsel for Intellectual Property – South East Asia at USPTO from New Delhi delved on IPR framework and key aspects with specific reference to USA.

Mr. Dinesh Patil, Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs, Indian Patent Office, Mumbai highlighted the IPR framework and key aspects in India.

Dr. Rajesh Acharya, Patent Attorney a leading Patent Attorney from HK Archarya & Co. gave a perspective analysis and briefed about Intellectual Property Protection & Commercialisation.

Mr. Robin Rosario, Secretary General of USIIC anchored the seminar. Mr. Nikhil Oswal of World Trade Center Pune welcomed the guests and participants. The seminar created awareness of basic IPR related regulations and aspects in USA and India. 

A high profile World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) delegation including Mr. Scott Ferguson, CEO - WTCA, Mr. Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific – WTCA alongwith Mr. Zubin Jall, Regional Director, India visited World Trade Center Pune in May 2017.
Mr. Sagar Chordia, Director – WTC Pune welcomed the WTCA team and highlighted the achievements and plans of WTC Pune. Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Wang were impressed by the infrastructure and service roll out of the WTCP and expressed satisfaction.

In the recent past, WTC Pune participated in its Trade Promotion Partner - Pune Customs House Agents Association seminar on an international trade topic - Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), an international trade measure of WTO. India has recently ratified the Implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
