International Trade Agreements – RTAs-PTAs event

PUNE, INDIA - Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs) andPreferential Trade Agreements (PTAs)are the current growth drivers of global economy. To understand salient elements of RTAs / PTAs, Exim Chamber of Commerce & Allied Industries and WTC Pune hosted a full day seminar at Pune by Mr. Sudhakar Kasture, a renowned EXIM practitioner. Mr. Aspy Bharucha from Ahmedabad, Mr. Tukaram Gaikwad, Mr. Nikhil Oswal and Mr. Shridhar were other speakers at the well attended seminar. Delegates from international trade from 40 plus corporates in Pune, Thane, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Mumbai learnt finer details from Mr. Kasture.

World Trade Center Pune and BDO India published a 80 page publication –PROLIFIC PUNE – A Guide to Doing Business in Pune. Pune is the epicenter of international trade considering the huge ecosystem of manufacturing and knowledge corporates and their vendor base. Pune is known globally for its manufacturing, education and research initiatives. Many MNCs and Indian corporates thrive in Pune.

The publication with foreword from Mr. Devendra Fadnavis - Chief Minister of Maharashtra is replete with trade related information and current policies and incentives for attracting investment to Pune -relevant to global MNCs looking at India as a market.

Recently CISCO Executive Chairman John Chambers announced that it will commence manufacturing in Pune, India. "...We are committed to Pune. We view this as a set of strategic initiatives which together produces outcomes... We see India leading as a fast innovation leader. ...We have already had a conference with 93 global suppliers in India to lay the groundwork what digital manufacturing means, what we expect out of our supply chain...it's a pull through effect," Chambers said.

Government bigwigs including Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, CM Maharashtra; Mr. Girish Bapat, District Guardian Minister; Mr. S Chockalingam, Pune Divisional Commissioner; Mr. Saurabh Rao, Pune Collector; Mr. V. Seshagiri Rao, Commissioner of Customs; Mr. Kunal Kumar, Pune Municipal Commissioner appreciated the contents of PROLIFIC PUNE.
