Tariff Tracker Resources

Apr 14, 2025

As of April 14, US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on higher reciprocal tariffs that hit dozens of trade partners, while raising duties on China to 125%.

He announced the pause 13 hours after they went into effect on April 9. Trump had said these tariffs, aimed at addressing decades of unfair treatment of the US in the global trading system, were calculated by dividing the country’s total trade surplus with the US by its total exports, then dividing that number by two to get the final rate. Trump’s order also closed de minimis exemptions, through which flowed a surge of low-priced merchandise bought online and shipped directly to US consumers.
