WTD Kolhapur - Global Scope for Engg. Exports

MUMBAI, INDIA - World Trade Centre (WTC) Mumbai organized its 6th in series World Trade Day Maharashtra in Kolhapur on May 27, 2017 in association with Kolhapur Engineering Association (KEA) on the topic ‘Accessing Global Markets for Engineering Products’ at KEA Auditorium, Kolhapur. The speakers included Mr. Babaso Kondekar, Chairman, KEA, Mr. Bhagwan Chandnani, Assistant General Manager, SIDBI and Mr. Raju Patil, Chairman, SMAK Shiroli.

The workshop commenced with the welcome remarks by Mr. Babaso Kondekar. He praised the efforts of WTC Mumbai in bringing such an initiative to Kolhapur and helping the entrepreneurs to take advantage of the benefits of international trade.

Mr. Bhagwan Chandnani, Assistant General Manager, SIDBI elaborated on various schemes for MSMEs and informed the audience to avail of the loan facility offered by SIDBI. Approximately Rs. 26,600 crore subsidies are being offered by SIDBI to various industry houses for developing their businesses.

Professor Virendra Gupte, Advisor, Tata International and Faculty, WTC Institute of International Trade, Mumbai conducted the workshop. In his presentation, he briefly elaborated the benefits entrepreneurs can get while exporting their products to other countries. He said, “There is tremendous scope for Kolhapur’s engineering products in global markets. World Trade Centre Mumbai will facilitate entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities in international markets.”

Mr. Gupte further added that World Trade Centers Association New York has an unparallel network of 317 World Trade Centers in 88 countries connecting 1 million businesses across the world and WTC Mumbai being a part of the network can assist Kolhapur’s entrepreneurs to connect with international buyers and sellers. The entrepreneurs can upload their product information on WTC Mumbai’s website, so that their products can find visibility world over.

Mr. Suresh Ghorpade, Assistant Director–Trade Promotion, WTC Mumbai in his introductory remarks said World Trade Day is a pioneering initiative of WTC Mumbai in India. The 1st in series was held in Mumbai (May 18), 2nd in series held in Nashik (May 22), 3rd in series held in Pune (May 24), 4th in series held in Nagpur (May 25), 5th in series held in Aurangabad (May 26) and the last one held here in Kolhapur.
