MOSCOW, RUSSIA - International industrial exhibition INNOPROM for more than 6 years is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the field of innovation and high-tech developments. Exhibition took place in Yekaterinburg – industrial center of Russia.
INNOPROM established itself as a platform where latest domestic developments in various industries are presented that demonstrate the potential of Russian goods and technology and the competitiveness of our manufacturers. Here are a few examples.
At this year's exhibition it has been again announced about innovative R1 tram project, presented year before. It is planned that in 2016 "Uralvagonzavod" presents a serial model that will compete both in domestic and foreign markets, and in 2018 will be branded tram of the FIFA World Cup.
Another domestic development worth mentioning is "Baikal Electronics" dual-core processor. It has become the first Russian product for commercial needs rather than for defense complex. The processor could potentially become a serious competitor to Western counterparts, which is a major step forward in this area.
The "Ural Locomotives" plant has officially started production of a new modification of high-speed train "Swallow" (ES2G) – "Swallow-Premium". This is an example of a well-established cooperation with Western companies and technology transfer. The contract for its supply was signed by the Russian Railways with Sinara Group and concern Siemens AG in 2011. Trains are assembled mainly from components manufactured in Russia.
This year INNOPROM broke all records: more than 600 companies from 59 Russian regions and 95 countries were presented there; the exhibition was visited by over 52 thousand people; more than 50 agreements and contracts were signed, including international ones.
It was expected that one of the most discussed topics at the exhibition will be import substitution and export orientation, development of production localization and transfer of technology, quality of products and business processes, industry government support measures, priorities for import and export.
In 2015 the exhibition itself has reached a new level: for the first time a new country, China, was invited to the partnership. Russia and China have established contacts in various industries: mechanical engineering, metallurgy, aviation, light industry, power generation and oil and gas sector. China is actively investing in Russian projects, including the development of extractive industries and infrastructure facilities, and clearly focused on the development of production. Thus, according to a recent United Nations study, 6 out of 8 billion dollars investments in Russian projects will come from China.
I hope that in 2016 when India will be the partner country of the exhibition, INNOPROM will host even more export-oriented Russian and foreign companies with their developments and technologies.
