Primakov Readings ranked a prestigious event

The University of Pennsylvania (USA) has published a preliminary version of the leading analytical centers ratings of the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, as well as the world's best analytical conferences of the past year. The Primakov Readings international forum 2017 rose in the rating from 9th to 7th place.

In addition, the co-organizer of the Primakov Readings - the National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) - rose in the rating by 5 points to the 26th. IMEMO is also recognized as one of the best research institutes in the country.

In general, according to the study by the University of Pennsylvania, the number of analytical organizations in Russia has increased, and now the country ranks 8th with 130 institutions. USA – the first place with 1872 organizations, followed by China (512), and the third place - Great Britain (444).

This is the tenth Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, prepared by the University of Pennsylvania within the framework of the program "Analytical Centers and Civil Society". Expertise is carried out on more than 6.8 thousand research centers in the world through a survey in which not only representatives of science, but also several thousand journalists, public and political figures participate. The full version of the ratings was presented on March 1.

The annual international forum Primakov Readings is the world economic, political and international security problems discussion platform with the participation of leading representatives of Russian and foreign research and expert-analytical centers.

Its organizers are IMEMO, The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, World Trade Center Moscow and the Foreign Policy Cooperation Center named after E.M. Primakov.

The key theme of the Primakov Readings in 2017 was "The World in 2035". The discussion participants looked at the issues of cooperation between Russia and the United States, long-term trends in the Indo-Pacific region and the prospects for building a new Eurasian economic landscape, the international security challenges, the matters of cooperation between Russia and the European Union, and the search for ways out of the Ukrainian crisis.

Among the participants were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mr. Sergey Lavrov, the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, as well as the Chairman of the Council of the Center for Strategic Research, Alexey Kudrin, the assistant to the President of Russia Andrey Fursenko and many others. The Forum was traditionally attended by representatives of federal government, scientists from leading think tanks of 19 countries as well as representatives of Russian and foreign businesses.
