From Source of Silk Road: Delegation of WTC Fuzhou

On November 12, 2018, WTC Moscow played host to a business mission organized by the Chinese Committee for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of Fujian Province together with the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA).

The head of the delegation, Mr. Yang Keshi, Vice Mayor of the capital of Fujian Province, Fuzhou City, introduced the delegation members including heads of enterprises of the fishing and fish processing industries, port infrastructure, ship repair production, and transport and logistics services. Heads of the WTC Fuzhou Exhibition Center also took part in the meeting.

WTC Fuzhou was founded in 2013 and is currently planning to expand the center's activities. The delegation was interested in the services of WTC Moscow in the way of services for partner companies.

The meeting's participants discussed the possibilities and experiences of their Chinese colleagues in the repair of fishing vessels, which may prove useful to Russian efforts. Members of the delegation also reported on a planned import-export exhibition in the province and requested WTC Moscow invite partners to the event in Russia to participate in the event.

“It is important to note that the origins of the Great Silk Road, both before and now, begin precisely with the Province of Fujian,” said the Vice Mayor of Fuzhou City. “Road, railway, air, and sea transport of the Silk Road, originating in the province, are of real interest to Russian investors and manufacturers of products in demand in the above-mentioned industries”

“Last year the BRICS summit was held in this particular province,” said Alexander Rybakov, Council to the General Director of the World Trade Center. The organizers of this delegation from the Chinese side were involved in the preparation of the summit, and the province was chosen as one of the most prosperous.

Also, the Chinese colleagues of the province (through CCPIT and WTCA) expressed a desire to organize a b2b event with potential importers and exporters at the leading exhibitions of the Expocentre, in which they traditionally participate in the following topics: Food, Metalworking, Children's products, and IT.

The Chinese Committee for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is the main partner organization of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China.

A delegation from the Heilongjiang Province (WTC Harbin is located in the province) visited the WTC of Moscow on November 1, 2018.

Fujian Province: In 2017, GDP: 478.4 billion dollars; 12.3 thousand dollars per capita. Many foreign firms have representative offices in the province including Boeing, Dell, GE, Kodak, Nokia, Siemens, Swire, TDK, and Panasonic.
